Hector Ramirez, the man behind MADRE, threw an art show together to share his past and present works. The event took place at the House of Brews in San Fernando, California this past weekend and it went off with lots of friends and family partaking in the event. Of course, House of Brews had all sorts of caffeinated beverages to keep everybody stoked and the surrounding food joints kept everyone full. Live music by Bad Bruno and It's All Over, set the atmosphere off with some fast paced punk tunes and DJ Jesska and Pexsi let loose on some turn tables in between sets as well. What I considered to be the banger of the night was the Mariachi group, they closed the event with proper Mexican stylings and flare. Special thanks go out to David and his brother's Mariachi group for that little treat. Hector's works were nothing short of amazing, paintings with so much emotion encompassed in them that you could feel what Hector felt during their creation. The art that he creates is intense and full of emotion, raw and dark, I would say his creative mind is a mixture of Clive Barker and Shakespeare... Emotions of love and loss mixed with dark images of bleeding appendages and limbless bodies are one of many themes Hector works with in his pieces. I'm stoked to have finally seen all of Hector's art in person, I have an even deeper appreciation for his talents as an artist now that I've really been able to study each piece and take in every detail... And I would definitely say all his creativity and hard work really came through for this event. Congratulations to my good friend, Hector, for the success of his first art show.
